Where fire becomes peace

A fire dancer of the Baining tribe in Papua New Guinea jumps barefoot through flames during a secret night ceremony, an ancestral ritual passed down through generations.
In this remote place in the jungle, the ritual is about being united with the elements. The dancers enter a trance-like state, reconnecting in spirit with nature, where even fire is no longer perceived as harm.
Peace is present in every movement — in the trust in something greater and unexplainable, in inner strenght and in the rhythm of the accompanying drums and the chants of the entire community coming together.
