Jolodibo in Benin

Carla Kogelman, The Netherlands

Josline (12) and Lois (10) have a mother from Holland and a father from Cameroon. I started documenting their lives in 2016. In Holland and in West Africa. In 2017, the family decided to leave Amsterdam and live in Cameroon for a couple of years. The kids became expat kids in the country of their father. After a year, the family moved back to Holland and a year later they moved again, this time to Benin. I have lived with them twice in Benin.

Jolodibo – La terre de mon père – the Benin part is a story about resilience. about adapting to the circumstances if you go to live close to the roots of your father. Shot in 2018 and 2019.
