The NGO “Ende Gelaende“ fights with spectacular actions of civil disobidiance against the enviromental hazardous digging and fueling of brown coal. Their protest is always peaceful and non-violent, but by storming into open-coal mines or blocking railwaytracks that transport coal to the power stations they also somehow break the law. As the German government is reluctant in reducing the use of coal for electzric power, the activists see this as a still justifiable way of protest. The branding of Ende Gelaende are the white or red painters suits and the dust masks they mostly wear. During the occupations music is played, people dance and sing.
